Terrier Mark 2- It's All Gone Pete Tong

Unfortunately I wasn't particularly happy with the original colour and after a bit of thought I decided to try and add some darker lining to it. I then thought it would be a good idea to try and do not one but two colours by hand. Hmm. Not quite sure what I was thinking. Anyway, needless to say it looked awful so I ended up rubbing it down to try and get something I could put a new coat of paint on. This was the state of affairs a couple of days ago: Anyway, after a bit of thought I decided to paint it in a more subdued colour rather than repaint it in the same one. I picked out Humbrol 86 as appropriate. That then looked rather flat and at this point as I needed to put some gloss on for the transfers I nabbed James Hilton's trick and gloss varnished the whole thing to try and give it some oomph. OO layout ideas

Reading James Hilton's blog recently and seeing his OO micro coming together, it has really given me a lot of ideas for going back to OO, and as I have all the stuff I need including a variety of DCC fitted locos ranging from a Beattie well tank to various GWR locos giving a very West Country theme. (There's a Merchant Navy and Pullmans too but let's not get ahead of ourselves) With a 7x4 ft board in the garage from my train set, it started me thinking about possibly designing a new layout, to better standards than I have achieved before, potentially to exhibit and as such, splitting into boards that would fit into my '05 Fiesta. Clearly it will be a tight squeeze, but with the seats folded down it would allow me to perhaps fit two boards stacked on top of each other. However, I'm looking for more of a light railway terminus than roundy-roundy so the current thinking is that 4 boards would work. This is the current thinking for how I'd split them. They

Stock and track for the WDR...

Track is a bit of a departure for me- I've only built this trial piece so far, but I'm using Code 60 rail and coffee stirrer sleepers to represent spiked light railway track - these are currently scale size but I think I might need to shorten them as they make the OO gauge very obvious. This trial piece isn't quite right as I haven't got the right pins yet, these are roundhead escutcheon pins so the wrong shape and size (and I don't think I used enough of them as it's not quite in gauge at the ends) This aerial view makes it look distorted though it looks fine in real life! The roundhead pins made it hard to get the rail square- I have some more arriving soon. Soldering is a bit messy at the moment but it's getting better! Otherwise, I've built a coach and full brake. The coach is Ratio ends, Mainline Toad chassis and Thomas toy sides whilst the brake is Triang clerestory bits on a Ratio chassis. I did the roof as if it had bee
