A small problem with the Austerity- it only runs in one direction! Didn't quite fit in anyway and I got it for nothing, still a little bit annoying though.
However, I was reading the RCTS books which have useful info on what happened to locos of all sorts of backgrounds, looking for what I could plausibly convert to light railway stock when I found the entry on the Dean Goods. After they were taken into WD stock in WW1 a few were sold of to various interesting customers including the Ottoman empire amongst others. So I think a light railway in Dorset could be an option!
Anyway, it's the old model with tender drive however as long as you can only see the side without the exposed gears it's passable; I added a real coal load and smokebox door dart before repainting it in a colour similar to how some of the KESR locos ended up later in their lives with faded paintwork.

Quite a lot larger than the new Terrier! Which, incidentally, arrived from eBay recently- a bashed chimney I've had to fill, a couple of small scratches and a step I had to glue back on are all I've had to do so far- considering it cost £55 against an £80/90 RRP or £50 for the old version I think it's a decent deal! I'll either repaint it or try some dry brushing techniques as the blue would have faded I expect- it's KESR livery but apart from the nameplate it's actually a fairly typical Colonel Stephens colour- a bit different from my usual dirty greeny brown colours (which it might still end up in)! Any other locos will be back to normal...
